Perth, WA, AustraliaAndy grew up in Zimbabwe and spent several years working as a classroom teacher both in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Being a musician herself, she had always understood the benefits that music education afforded the students in her class and yearned to further her studies in Music.
Andy, made her way to Perth in 2008 with her young family, where her journey into the world of Orff pedagogy began unexpectedly at a one-day professional development event. Captivated by its principles, she swiftly immersed herself in the field, eventually becoming a member of the Western Australian Orff Schulwerk Association (WAOSA) committee. Serving initially as the Orff West Editor, and in various other executive roles, she is currently the WAOSA President.
Driven by her passion for music education and movement, Andy pursued further professional development, completing her Orff Levels and undertaking David Spurgeon’s acclaimed Dance course in Sydney. Her enthusiasm for dance and creative movement and devotion to music advocacy in our schools, have led her to become a passionate presenter at numerous WAOSA workshops, where she shares her insights and experiences with fellow educators.
Currently, Andy serves as the Junior School Music Coordinator at Iona Presentation College, where she enjoys shaping the musical education of young learners. Additionally, she contributes to the academic community as a sessional lecturer in Music at Notre Dame University, where she imparts her knowledge in the realm of general education.
